From Waste to Wearable: Rethinking Materials Through Making

  • Maslen Design Studio Unit 6B, Harbour Industrial Estate, Embankment Road Bembridge, England, PO35 5NR United Kingdom (map)

A hands-on jewellery workshop exploring how everyday materials can be transformed into meaningful, wearable pieces with beCHARLO Jewellery: SUSTAINABLE JEWELLERY + OBJECTS.

Using plastic waste, reclaimed elements and repurposed findings, participants will design and create either a layered pendant or a pair of statement earrings while reflecting on value, waste and our relationship with materials. Set within a small, guided studio environment, this is a calm, thoughtful making experience, ideal for those looking to create something together. Participants will create either a layered pendant or a pair of statement earrings using recycled plastics, fabric remnants and repurposed brass elements.

All materials are included, using a curated selection of reclaimed plastics, fabrics and repurposed elements. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring a small piece of plastic or old jewellery to incorporate into their design.

There are four of these workshops: Thursday 2nd 14:00–16:30 and Friday 3rd 10:30–13:00 in Billingham and Friday 3rd 16:30–19:00 and Saturday 4th 16:30–19:00 in Bembridge, see separate listings for details.

£40 per person. Booking required, email info@becharlo.co.uk. Max 8 per session. 12+ (but under 16 must be accompanied by an adult).

A relaxed evening workshop exploring creative reuse and materials in a more open social setting. Ideal for coming along with a friend or as a creative end to the day.
