Saturday 27th June
Wihtwara Rainbow presents a traditional ceremony to honour our ancestors the Wihtwara, at The Glade of Peace and Harmony in Grammars Wood.
Led by Jan Harper Whale, an island resident since 1976, who earned her native name ‘Eagle Singing Moon’ after living with and being accepted by the Sisseton Dakota Sioux in Native America. Honouring their traditional ceremonies.
Join us for a deeply nourishing Sacred Sound Bath in Grammars Wood, a gentle afternoon space to slow down, rest, and reconnect with yourself.
You’ll be guided into relaxation through the soothing and powerful sounds of gongs, tuning forks, chimes, and gentle vocals, supporting the nervous system, emotional release, and energetic balance.
Your mission starts at The Port. Head down, sign up, and pick up your instructions - everything you need to begin your adventure is waiting there. The game runs throughout Biosphere Festival week, so whether you stumble across it on opening day or catch it on the last afternoon, there's always time to play. Come back and go further. A FREE crafting afternoon for kids at 4+, at Lord Louis Library.
The Isle of Wight is home to many uncovered fossils. Try your hand at crafting your very own fossils to take home!
Take a look around Moorgreen Allotments, meet members of the Moorgreen Road Allotment Society, and explore the adjacent woodland.
Produce and plants from the garden will be given away, or can be swapped for other plants, produce, seeds etc. Allotment members will be on hand to discuss ideas for increased bio-diversity within the allotment space and the adjacent woodland which is also managed by the society.
Immerse yourself in the Biosphere through art, with this exclusive Biosphere exhibition at Monkton Arts and Cafe. Ponder over artwork inspired by nature and our community. During you visit, and take home something to remember your visit by.

Brand NEW event for 2026, Godshill Wild is set to be a fun-filled, free family event. Based at May Close Recreation Ground and the Scout Hall, there’ll be a selection of exhibitors, activities, guided walks and live performances. You’ll even be amongst the first to see the new Godshill mascot, a giant puppet of Lady Anne Worsley.
Calling all young adults, this is the event for you. Join illustrator Tommy Brentnall, and he leads you through a free workshop on Zine making. Tommy will lead the group through different activities, including collective map-making, field recording, drawing and photography, towards creating a print publication together on the second day. Don’t worry if you’ve never done any of these before, it’s a great opportunity to play, try out some new methods and share your thoughts, stories and ideas around what nature on the Island means to you. Lunch and snacks provided!
Commemorative trail walk leaders, Chris and Frankie, invite you to enjoy the newly commissioned Lady Ann Trail with them. Celebrate the life of Lady Ann Worsley, taking in views of Appuldurcombe House and Worsley Monument. You may even get a chance to speak to Lady Ann herself.
Gurnard Village Hall will be filled with a buzz during their two-day showcase of local projects. Community businesses, groups, artists, groups, and more, will be showcasing their skills and passion. Chat to the people who make the Biosphere what it is. Then stick around for tea and cake, with refreshments available.
Kindly supported by the Daisie Rich Trust, head to the Quay Arts Centre for a free collage workshop. With cut-out letters and a glue stick in hand, create a 12-word story. Explore the natural world; animals, plants, growth, renewal, whatever inspires you. Then come back in September to see your story displayed at the 12-word story exhibition.
On the cliff edges of Ventnor, sits a smallholding that’s completely self-sustaining. As seen on Ben Fogle’s ‘New Lives in The Wild’, Permaculture Island will be opening their doors for the Biosphere Festival. Experience what it’s really like to live and work in an off-grid small holding, from food systems to livestock, and community connection.
Join the community of wonderful people who help Northwood Allotments flourish. Where community, nature, and home-grown food come together in a peaceful and welcoming setting.
Gates will be open for an exclusive open access visit, inviting you to explore a working allotment site. See what’s growing and learn how local people cultivate fresh fruit and veg, whilst sharing skills, knowledge, and a love of the outdoors.
A unique talk from Jan Harper Whale, an archeologist who has uncovered buried truths about the Wihtwara people of the Isle of Wight. Join her at The Glade of Peace and Harmony in Grammars Wood, to learn about DNA archeology and the spiritual race of Pagan people that once called the island home.
Visit Holly Maslen in her studio by the sea, Maslen Studios. Browse her exhibition of reimagined, painted clothing. For only £15, whilst you’re enjoying the free exhibition, Holly will paint a unique emblem on a leather item of your choice. Learn about her craft and head home with a one-off piece.
Dive into the history of the sea with Yarmouth’s NEW Maritime Museum. Explore exhibitions on shipwrecks, rescue, smuggling and Stone Age landscapes! Located in a former Victorian school on the corner of Mill Road and River Road, Yarmouth, the centre is free to enter and offers a warm welcome.
Running for a whole week, experience the island like never before. This exhibition at the Brading Roman Villa showcases breathtaking work from local island photographers. From sweeping seascapes to intimate glimpses of nature, each photograph offers a fresh and personal perspective on the place we call home. Alongside ceramic works inspired by the island’s deep connection to the sea that surrounds it, see works from Karen at KE Ceramics. A cohesive and immersive experience.

Sunday 28th June
Come and explore the Isle of Wight National Landscape with story walk leader Sue Bailey.
Enjoy a sunset walk around the top of Culver Down, the battery and Bembridge fort with stops along the way for moon stories – some true, some not so true. Hopefully we will see the full moon rise over the sea about 9pm.
The Wihtwara Rainbow Tribe are welcoming you into Grammar’s Wood, a place of peace, love and harmony, to experience the Peace Pipe.
Without temptations of the modern world, the ceremony is truly a connection between us and our island.
Ventnor Botanic Garden is hosting this unique talk and live concert, led by Annamaria Sacchini, director of Harp on Wight and Lucia Para, outdoor educator. Sharing their experiences with sound in nature and its healing properties. Head outside afterwards for a live concert of plants - something you’ve likely never heard before!
Hosted by local poet and wild guide, Harrison Wavell. Write Back to Nature is an invitation to slow down and deepen into our relationship with the natural world through the power of the written word.
Through mind, body and heart opening practices, we’ll be uncovering the words that wish to speak through us as we enter into conversation with the wild. Join Harrison at Shalcombe Manor.
Join us at Gurnard village hall, for a community screening of the 45-min film, ‘the People’s Emergency Briefing’. Followed by discussion on what this means for everyday life in the UK and on the Isle of Wight, now and in the future. Many people leave with a sense of optimism and community.

Conservation and farming work hand in hand at Warren Farm, join David Howarth, from Isle of Wight Ramblers, for a FREE 2-mile walk to see how it works. Farmer, James Osman, will be on hand along the way to describe how he manages the farm for the benefit of the community and wildlife.
Stop by the farm shop and cafe on your way out to enjoy some of the local produce and support the farm.
Join artist Laura Hathaway at Compton Bay to create abstract paper paintings inspired by the changing landscape at Compton Bay. Collect and create using natural materials such as clays, pebbles, shells, seaweed and dried plants.
Your paintings will join many others created by young people across the Isle of Wight, becoming part of a large paper installation that will be displayed at Compton Bay for the CAN YOU HEAR US? celebrations in September and October.
The Isle of Wight has some of the most biodiverse woods and forests in England.
Join Matt for a 2-hour tour of Forestry England’s Firestone Copse, a historic woodland just outside Ryde. Together we’ll discover why woodland management is important and how modern forestry is changing to be more sensitive to the needs of our woodland wildlife.

You might recognise Lucy Lapwing from BBC’s Springwatch. As a self-prescribed nature nerd, she has turned her passion for wildlife conservation and campaigning into wonderfully compelling writing. ‘Love Is a Toad’ traverses meadows, bogs and hedgerows, digging down into our relationship with the natural world. At Medina Bookshop in Cowes.
Join us at Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council, for a community screening of the 45-min film, ‘the People’s Emergency Briefing’. In this group healing session lead by Wihtwara Rainbow, experience the gentle healing effects of tree essence at Grammars Wood. Take the chance to try several essences with body healing techniques and connect fully with the healing essence of trees. We’ll work together to explore the essences, working on the etheric body.

For the first time ever, James Wylie will host a UV night walk on the Isle of Wight, in Firestone Copse. Explore, connect and wander with insects with an ultraviolet torch and see nature in a new light.
Part of the ‘Through the Eyes of Insects’ project, which aims to help communities establish valued connections to the natural world.
Led by Ashley Goddard, this is a 4.6 km walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth’s natural history!

Led by Maggie Nelmes, enjoy a 3-mile walk, through the beautiful wooded landscape of St Lawrence in The Undercliff. Hear about the importance of trees in stabilising the land and easing waterlogging, and learn how the landscape was transformed by one larger-than-life but controversial figure in late Victorian times.

Since 2015, the National Trust has been transforming Dunsbury Farm from intensive arable land into a wildlife-rich coastal landscape. Join our countryside staff for a guided walk exploring this wilding project in the heart of the Isle of Wight Biosphere Reserve, and find out how the land is changing, from soil restoration and shifting grassland habitats to the return of raptors, linnets and wildflowers.
Step into the Glasshouse and be immersed in a listening and moodling experience at The Green Barn in Yarmouth. Move between the Pod, outdoor spaces, and the light-filled greenhouse, noticing how your attention shifts and settles in each new environment.
Join Jean G-Owen for a lively workshop inspired by the Isle of Wight and the landscapes of Ryde. Experiment with short poetic form including monstick, postcard- and micro-poetry, discovering how a few chosen words can evoke an entire place.

Rik Kiddle is a national UK speaker, known for providing a number of different talks and workshops on modern sigil magick, Norse mythology, Viking history and runes.
Modern sigil magick is a technique of creating personalized symbols to represent specific intentions, designed to influence the subconscious mind and manifest desires. Create your own in this workshop at Grammars Wood.

Be inspired by the incredible work of the Wight Nature Fund in preserving our island’s Biosphere. Hear about a beautiful managed site South of Yarmouth, traditional hedge laying, and the island’s Tree Warden Network at Medina Bookshop.
You’ll be amongst the first to preview a new, upcoming book, exploring the trees of the Isle of Wight. With musical interludes throughout, this is your chance to ask questions and learn more about conservation efforts.

Visit conservationist and environmentalist, John Osborn, at Grammars Wood - open all week. Tucked away along the beautiful Strawberry lane, this woodland has been lovingly restored and is now managed by John. He’ll be working in the woods during the festival, so come along to see the transformation and chat to him about how he’s now managing it for wildlife.

Of Wool and Words is a creative writing workshop which will explore the ancient traditions of livestock farming, spinning and weaving, and celebrate the combination of nature, people and place. Taking place at The Green Barn.
Participants will be encouraged to consider pastoral poems, the interaction between humans and nature, and how farming is portrayed within literature.
Bonchurch Open Gardens is a much-loved annual event inviting visitors to explore a collection of 15+ private gardens across the historic village of Bonchurch on the Isle of Wight.
For two afternoons, garden gates are opened to reveal everything from cottage-style planting and wildlife-friendly spaces to established coastal gardens with sea views.

New Carnival presents the IW Mardi Gras 2026 -Folktastic Isle – Stories, Myths and Legends. Continuing our two year Folktastic theme, this year our parade will tell many of the island’s lesser know folk stories.
With over 23 local schools and community groups taking part, plus samba bands and New Carnival’s spectacular giant puppets – this is sure to be an afternoon you won’t forget! Includes the children’s Mini Mardi Gras at 11am before the main Mardi Gras parade sets off at 3pm.

Join Wight Nature Fund for a celebration of the Island’s UNESCO Biosphere. This year our focus will be on the wonderful island trees. We will have an exhibition of tree photos by one of our Trustees Terence Hart.
There will be a scavenger hunt around Mill Copse for children too and we will be running a tour of Mill Copse, showcasing its history and the coppicing work that we have recently been doing in Partnership with the Isle of Wight College.

Join Fishbourne Parish Council for a walk via Abbey church through woodland and on to the Old Abbey ruins. Led by the very knowledgeable chairman of the ”Friends of Quarr”, the walk (on private Quarr land) takes you around the ancient ruins and describes the workings of a medieval monastery.

Hop aboard the maritime discovery bus and dive into the marine world of the Isle of Wight. Parked at the new and exciting Museum and Maritime Archeology Centre (situated in the old Yarmouth Primary School), interact with artefacts and chat to experts. This family-friendly event promises the discovery of stories of shipwrecks from around the island, and how some have now transformed into homes for marine creatures.

Adults can drop in to Ryde Library enjoy this weaving craft using old CDs and learn how old household items can be repurposed for crafting.
A relaxed, family-friendly celebration of food, nature, and local history at Riboleau Studio and Gardens. Discover the journey your food takes in our interactive activity, “Local or Imported?”, where you’ll explore where your fruit and vegetables come from and how far they’ve travelled to reach your plate. Their resident marine biologist and award-winning underwater photographer Theo Vickers, will be guiding an underwater tour, helping to discover the marine inhabitants of the Seagrass Meadows at Seaview, Isle of Wight.

On this circular family-friendly nature walk around Wroxall, we will be exploring the wildlife of hedgerow, grassland and woodland habitats through games and activities. Aimed at children over five, we’ll be identifying birdsong, finding flowers and enjoying the fabulous views through the Rew Valley.

Joseph will take you on a foraging walk around the Nunwell Estate and introduce you to the wild plants that have been used to flavour beer over the centuries, and then its back to the brewery where you'll learn how to capture and harness your own wild yeast to create tasty drinks at home.
At the Enchanted Manor in Niton, learn about rewinding yourself. With a mobilising flow yoga aimed at opening “screen shoulders”, hear stories of a young girls personal rewilding and take a mindful stroll up to St Catherine’s Down.
