Hop aboard the maritime discovery bus and dive into the marine world of the Isle of Wight. Parked at the new and exciting Museum and Maritime Archeology Centre (situated in the old Yarmouth Primary School), interact with artefacts and chat to experts. This family-friendly event promises the discovery of stories of shipwrecks from around the island, and how some have now transformed into homes for marine creatures.

12 Word Story Writing and Collage Workshop
Kindly supported by the Daisie Rich Trust, head to the Quay Arts Centre for a free collage workshop. With cut-out letters and a glue stick in hand, create a 12-word story. Explore the natural world; animals, plants, growth, renewal, whatever inspires you. Then come back in September to see your story displayed at the 12-word story exhibition.
In the Footsteps of Lady Ann Worsley commemorative trail walk
Commemorative trail walk leaders, Chris and Frankie, invite you to enjoy the newly commissioned Lady Ann Trail with them. Celebrate the life of Lady Ann Worsley, taking in views of Appuldurcombe House and Worsley Monument. You may even get a chance to speak to Lady Ann herself.

Godshill Wild!
Brand NEW event for 2026, Godshill Wild is set to be a fun-filled, free family event. Based at May Close Recreation Ground and the Scout Hall, there’ll be a selection of exhibitors, activities, guided walks and live performances. You’ll even be amongst the first to see the new Godshill mascot, a giant puppet of Lady Anne Worsley.

Moorgreen Allotments Open Day
Take a look around Moorgreen Allotments, meet members of the Moorgreen Road Allotment Society, and explore the adjacent woodland.
Produce and plants from the garden will be given away, or can be swapped for other plants, produce, seeds etc. Allotment members will be on hand to discuss ideas for increased bio-diversity within the allotment space and the adjacent woodland which is also managed by the society.

Farming and Conservation Walk and Talk
Conservation and farming work hand in hand at Warren Farm, join David Howarth, from Isle of Wight Ramblers, for a FREE 2-mile walk to see how it works. Farmer, James Osman, will be on hand along the way to describe how he manages the farm for the benefit of the community and wildlife.

Join artist Laura Hathaway at Compton Bay to create abstract paper paintings inspired by the changing landscape at Compton Bay. Collect and create using natural materials such as clays, pebbles, shells, seaweed and dried plants.
Your paintings will join many others created by young people across the Isle of Wight, becoming part of a large paper installation that will be displayed at Compton Bay for the CAN YOU HEAR US? celebrations in September and October.

Enjoy a sunset walk around the top of Culver Down, the battery and Bembridge fort with stops along the way for moon stories – some true, some not so true. Hopefully we will see the full moon rise over the sea about 9pm.

Create your own tree essence
Experience full connection with the trees in this workshop hosted by the Wihtwara Rainbow Tribe at Grammars Wood. Let the sun and moon filter down the spring water into the essence. Leave the essence for the duration of the festival to be picked up and preserved at the end.

Balsam Bashing
Gets hands on with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, volunteering as a conservationist for the day. Himalayan Balsam is a non-native, invasive plant species. Help maintain the precious diversity of our Eastern Yar catchment by ‘Balsam Bashing’, before this harmful vegetation can go to seed.

Historic shores and shipwrecks: exploring relationships with a changing climate
Hop aboard the maritime discovery bus and dive into the marine world of the Isle of Wight. Parked at the new and exciting Museum and Maritime Archeology Centre (situated in the old Yarmouth Primary School), interact with artefacts and chat to experts. This family-friendly event promises the discovery of stories of shipwrecks from around the island, and how some have now transformed into homes for marine creatures.

Wight Nature Fund Biosphere Day
Join Wight Nature Fund for a celebration of the Island’s UNESCO Biosphere. This year our focus will be on the wonderful island trees. We will have an exhibition of tree photos by one of our Trustees Terence Hart.
There will be a scavenger hunt around Mill Copse for children too and we will be running a tour of Mill Copse, showcasing its history and the coppicing work that we have recently been doing in Partnership with the Isle of Wight College.

Translating Frequencies: 639 returns to Calbourne Church by popular demand, following a hugely well-received installation last year.
Created by Isle of Wight artist Nathan Holt, this unique immersive sound art experience weaves together field recordings and 639hz frequency to transform the ancient resonant space of the church into a living instrument.
Bonchurch Open Gardens
Bonchurch Open Gardens is a much-loved annual event inviting visitors to explore a collection of 15+ private gardens across the historic village of Bonchurch on the Isle of Wight.

Of Wool and Words: Weaving natural narratives in our landscape
Of Wool and Words is a creative writing workshop which will explore the ancient traditions of livestock farming, spinning and weaving, and celebrate the combination of nature, people and place. Taking place at The Green Barn.
Participants will be encouraged to consider pastoral poems, the interaction between humans and nature, and how farming is portrayed within literature.

Bonchurch Open Gardens
Come and enjoy beautiful Bonchurch as you explore over 15 wonderful gardens! A shuttle bus will run through the village to help you get around, with parking available at Shore Road. The Hub, marked with a large yellow banner near The Grotto on Village Road, is your go-to spot for tickets, cream teas in the garden, plants for sale, restrooms, and the shuttle bus stop. Planet, Parish, People Trail + Grow Gurnard Picnic
The IoW Doughnut Economics Working Group, Together For Mission Zero, Parish Futures & Grow Gurnard are joining forces to offer you a series of community events for families as part of the Biosphere Festival.
Join us on a short trail through ‘Planet, Parish, People’ followed by a bring-your-own-picnic in the Grow Gurnard field, displays from Gurnard Primary School, story telling, Ice-cream and activities included.
Maslen/Kori Sustainable Fashion Collaboration
A sustainable/circular local fashion collaboration for four days between Holly Maslen and Kori. All clothing is sourced, second hand here on the Island, before hand-painted designs are added, making the clothes once again desirable and extending their life span. Also bespoke clothing made from old linen and lace. Made in response to the clothing see Appley oak gall drawings, alongside paper sculptures related to form and movement.
Grammar’s Common Open Week
Open all week; Grammar’s Common, with its dense, almost impenetrable woodland and ancient Black Barrow is an unusual place and well worth a visit. A chance to talk with John Osborn who is working the land throughout the festival and can answer your questions.
Rubbish Revolution sculpture at Network Ryde
Throughout the festival. Join the ‘Rubbish Revolution’ and come and see a sculpture made entirely of trash and transformed into an amazing artwork, displayed on the Network Ryde patio throughout the Biosphere Festival. Made by young people, this creation highlights our relationship with consumerism and waste, and the importance of recycling.
Sheltered in a Phone Box - Exhibition
Throughout the festival. An exciting collaborative project between local artists Alice Malia and Laura Hathaway, ‘Sheltered’ will see the 14 neglected shelters along Appley Beach in Ryde transformed over the course of this Summer. This installation will show some of the work in progress for this project, giving us an exciting insight into this imminent transformation of Ryde’s seafront.
IW Mardi Gras – Our Folktastic Isle: The Wheel of the Year
Join the New Carnival Company for Ryde Mardi Gras. The theme for this year’s parade has been announced as ‘The Wheel of the Year’ as part of a two year ‘Our Folk-tastic Isle’ project.

Brading Roman Villa are hosting a special Sketching Workshop led by local artist Lucy Bell called “sketching the Ancient Landscape”. This two-hour session offers a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and capture the beautiful surroundings of the Villa through art.

If you’re aged under 16yrs, are arty and creative, and interested in supporting the amazing Isle of Wight Biosphere do pop along to Independent Arts to join in with a simple and fun craft activity.
Bonchurch Open Gardens
Come and enjoy beautiful Bonchurch as you explore over 15 wonderful gardens! A shuttle bus will run through the village to help you get around, with parking available at Shore Road. The Hub, marked with a large yellow banner near The Grotto on Village Road, is your go-to spot for tickets, cream teas in the garden, plants for sale, restrooms, and the shuttle bus stop. Many gardens will also be selling plants from their own collections.
Translating Frequencies at Calbourne Church
Translating Frequencies: 639 is a site-specific immersive sound installation by artist Nathan Holt, hosted at All Saints Church, Calbourne, a 12th-century site of architectural and cultural heritage. The work incorporates acoustic and subsonic sounds captured within the church and its surrounding natural environment, composed around the harmonic frame work of 639Hz. Visitors are invited to engage in deep listening within the fabric of the building itself.

An exhibition of the nine principles of the Isle of Wight UNESCO Biosphere Reserve showcased through island organisations.

Fabric Day at Gurnard Village Hall
Celebrating all things fabric at Gurnard village hall, both body and textiles. Stalls and exercise activities, with afternoon workshops such as creative mending of beloved items with a moth hole, stain or small tear to keep clothing from going to waste. Refreshments will be available.

Underwater Freediving Safari-certified freedivers

Wight Nature Fund Biosphere Day
Join Wight Nature Fund for our Biosphere Day on the 5th July at Yarmouth Community Centre (CHOYD), a celebration of nature and community, highlighting the Isle of Wight’s UNESCO Biosphere status.
Includes a group scavenger hunt, a guided walk and a whole day of displays, quizzes and refreshments at the hall.
Newtown Well-being Walk with the National Trust
Step away from the hustle of modern life and join the National Trust for a guided wellbeing walk through the stunning Newtown National Nature Reserve.
This gentle walk is designed to help you connect with nature on a deeper level, with opportunities for mindfulness, meditation, and sensory experiences along the way.
Historic “Old Quarr” walk
Walk via Abbey church through woodland and on to the Old Abbey ruins with the very knowledgeable chairman of the ”Friends of Quarr”. The walk (on private Quarr land) takes you around the ancient ruins and describes the workings of a medieval monastery, you are very welcome to ask questions!
Quarr is a great place to see the red squirrels and the whole site has a very special peaceful atmosphere. There lots of places to sit and ponder and it’s close to lovely walks. The Abbey church itself is awesome in the true sense.
