Join artist Laura Hathaway at Compton Bay to create abstract paper paintings inspired by the changing landscape at Compton Bay. Collect and create using natural materials such as clays, pebbles, shells, seaweed and dried plants.

Your paintings will join many others created by young people across the Isle of Wight, becoming part of a large paper installation that will be displayed at Compton Bay for the CAN YOU HEAR US? celebrations in September and October.

CAN YOU HEAR US? is a six-week celebration of creativity and culture taking place across the Isle of Wight between 11th September and 24th October. CAN YOU HEAR US? aims to celebrate everything the Island is, nurture creativity in every corner, and make sure creativity and culture are part of daily life for everyone.

Booking: Free. No booking required.

Age: Suitable for all ages. Children must be supervised at all times.

Accessibility: The activities will take place at the bottom of the steps to Compton Bay. There are a large number of steps to climb down, please use the handrail.

Parking: Paid parking available at Hanover Point car park Military Road (A3055), Compton, Isle of Wight, PO30 4HB

Hanover Point car park (near Brook, PO30 4HB) is a National Trust-managed pay-and-display site providing direct access to Compton Bay and its famous fossil-hunting beaches. It features toilets, baby change facilities, a "Changing Places" standard cubicle, and a seasonal food van.

  • Brook: A nearby National Trust car park to the west.

  • Compton Chine: A smaller National Trust car park further east

Compton Bay can also be accessed by the number 12 Southern Vectis Bus between Newport and Alum Bay.
