Nature Safari: Citizen Science in the Calbourne Valley

Join us for a Nature Safari: Citizen Science in the Calbourne Valley, a relaxed, youth-focused day at Calbourne Water Mill where you can explore local wildlife and take part in real citizen science.

Aimed at ages 16–25, the day includes hands-on activities—some designed and led by young people—offering a chance to build practical ID skills, connect with like-minded peers, and gain experience to highlight on a CV.

Under 16s are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Free to attend, with refreshments provided, plus parking, a café, and a bus stop just outside. Booking is essential.

Age range: The event is aimed at young people aged 16-25. People under age 16 may attend but must be accompanied by a responsible adult/legal guardian.

By car: Free parking is available on site at Calbourne Water Mill.

By bus: The Southern Vectis Summer Links bus stops directly outside Calbourne Water Mill. Alternatively, Route 7 (Newport–Yarmouth) stops nearby, with a short walk along the road to the site.

By bike: The site can be reached via quiet rural roads, making it a pleasant option for cyclists.

On foot: Calbourne Water Mill is accessible via local footpaths and surrounding countryside routes for those travelling on foot.
